Bringing our culture into our daily lives is very important for me as a mom. I try and teach my daughter about our traditions, the language, and introduce her to some of my favorite foods from Mexico. Unfortunately, we are not able to visit as often as before and I want her to experience some of my favorite things about Mexico. But just because we can’t go doesn’t mean we can’t bring a little piece of it here!
I always remember stopping to get two things: Elotes (street corn) and Pan Dulce (sweet bread) before we came back across the border. Since it’s impossible to have a street corn stand in my casa, I decided to recreate my own version. I am guilty of Americanizing some of my favorite treats and this one is no different. I am a little American and a little Mexican and so that is definitely reflected in my kitchen.
Another fun memory I have growing up was daring each other to eat chili piquins (or pequin), you know the little bitty red peppers that pack a HUGE punch! Well if you have never had one, trust me they ARE SPICY!!! I love spicy foods and piquins take it to another level. My advice if you want to try one (and you are sensitive to spice) is to make sure and have a glass of milk or a lemon ready.
DON VICTOR® has created some unique sauces with the piquin pepper, a spicy food lover’s dream. The three varieties include the Extra Hot, Red Hot, and Green Hot. I added these to my set up for the spicy foodies like me! The Don Victor® Extra Hot Piquin Hot Sauce boldly bring your taste buds to the extreme level of thrill-seeking heat they desire. The ingredients for Don Victor® Extra Hot Piquin Hot Sauce include Roasted piquin peppers in olive oil, water, oil, garlic, apple cider vinegar, salt and preservatives.

I have created the ENCHILADA CUPCAKE, JALAPENO BRUSCHETTA, and now a Mexican Street Corn Station. These are not your traditional dishes but my Americanized version of them. I like the idea of fusing my two cultures into one. These are perfect for entertaining, a twist for the holidays, and great for your next fiesta! Spice up your next party with Don Victor® Hot Sauces!
Don Victor® sauces are the only ones on the market to have the piquin pepper, a very small pepper from northern Mexico ! Keep a look out for these coming to your local grocery store condiments isle.
