We are just one week out from the Rubbish to Runway Charity Fashion Show. To say I’m a little excited would be a lie, I’m ecstatic because I’m showing this year! If your not familiar with this event, it’s a “Trashion Show” with a cause. Designers submit looks made of 90% trash and strut the runway to benefit the Long Way Home in Guatemala. This year all proceeds go to fill the library with books, computers, and training materials. Who wouldn’t want to help children with there education, after all, it is the key to success!
If you’re a Project Runway fan, this show is like a local Project Runway Unconventional Challenge, except with no time constraint. You will see the most creative ways EVER to turn trash into art. The creativity that goes into the looks just blows me away! Last year, I was able to attend the show and was truly amazed by these creations, everything from egg cartons to plastic grocery bags woven into fabric filled the stage.
I decided to show this year not only to help a great cause but also check something off the bucket list. I am a designer at heart and hope to one day have my own line. The thought of participating in a Project Runway type challenge and designing a look of my own that helps someone else = a match made in Heaven! I would to see you guys come to support the show!
