This was the aftermath.
These past couple of weeks have been tough for so many people in Houston and in Texas in general. The flood waters did so much damage in such a small period of time and some people lost everything including loved ones :(. I have to say though, in a time of such tragedy my faith in humanity was restored. I was fortunate not to have been affected but my neighborhood and surrounding areas were. I have never seen such compassion for strangers and a community come together to help. There were volunteers cooking meals, coaches taking their entire teams to help clean up and help the elderly, people delivering cleaning supplies, others helped with childcare, and companies helped with disaster relief clean up. As a native Texan this is just another example of the great Texas way and I love living in this state.
I wanted this post to be about more than just an outfit but a feeling. I decided to pair some of my favorite pieces that are truly Texas to me; cowboy boots, denim, a Texas home t-shirt, and a handbag from a Texas based company. The handbag was purchased from arloom – a company based out of Wimberley (a city that was majorly affected by the flood waters)- they were offering 20% off and 20% of their proceeds to help the victims of the flood. The t-shirt is from The Home T site that helps raise money for multiple sclerosis. I really admire and appreciate these companies that do a little to give back.
My heart goes out to all affected and I hope you are experiencing the love and compassion that surround me.
